loading openwrt first time to wpj344hv

  1. 7 months ago

I want to load openwrt to WPJ344HV-A 6A08 first time.
i have followed and compiled the image.

i am confused with the flashing instructions:
    * https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/compex/wpj344#flash_openwrt
this requires a serial cable and i don't have a serial cable to flash this image (openwrt-ar71xx-generic-wpj344-16M-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin). can i use the GUI upgrade option available with the present firmware (CompexWRT image running on the board)?

    * i have also read that i can use the GUI to load a factory image and then subsequently i can use sysupgrade image later on.
Only the "…-sysupgrade.bin" version of the OpenWrt download image should be used for OpenWrt upgrades. The "…- factory.bin" file is for switching from the vendor-default firmware to OpenWrt and is not used for OpenWrt-to-OpenWrt upgrades.
Locate the correct "…-sysupgrade.bin" upgrade file for your particular device hardware in the OpenWrt download area
is this still supported? as i don't see factory image built anymore.
    ubuntu:ar71xx$ ls | grep 344

    * what is the difference between
and the same file hosted at http://downloads.compex.com.sg/?dir=uploads/OpenWRT/Chaos-Calmer/2016-03-16

    Dear Sroy,

Great to hear that you have compiled the image file :-)

You can refer to the following flashing instructions:

The CompexWRT firmware webpage GUI only allows you to upload another CompexWRT firmware, not OpenWRT firmware.

    Please refer to:
However, this method is for CompexWRT, not OpenWRT.

So you will need a serial converter cable.

Serial converter cables can be purchased from Compex together with the embedded boards.

The ...sysupgrade.zip files contain the ...sysupgrade.bin files.
This is the OpenWRT factory image firmware file.
